MF GALLERY’S 8TH ANNUAL HALLOWEEN ART SHOW…
L’ARTE DI HALLOWEEN ARRIVA IN ITALIA!!

Dal 2003, MF Gallery organizza la mostra annuale
“Halloween Art Show”

L’ingresso e` gratuito e aperto a tutte l’eta`.

MF GALLERY’S 8TH ANNUAL HALLOWEEN ART SHOW
…THIS YEAR IN ITALY!!!

Since 2003, MF Gallery has been organizing
an Annual Halloween Art Show.
This year, the show will be moved to MF Gallery Genova
in order to help spread the Halloween spirit to Italy!

Opening Party: Sunday October 31 (7-10pm)

MF Gallery Genova- Vico dietro il coro della Maddalena 26A

Although it has European roots, Halloween is mostly a North American holiday. However, it has recently been gaining popularity in other countries, including Italy. Due to the increasing interest in Halloween and Halloween related imagery, MF Gallery has decided to hold this year’s Halloween show in their Italian gallery space: MF Gallery Genova.

Halloween is a holiday that has its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. In this period between the “light” half of the year (summer) and the “dark” half, (winter) it was believed that the border to the “otherworld” grew thin, and that spirits could easily pass through to this side. For this reason, it became traditional to wear scary masks and costumes, in order to ward off the evil spirits.

As Halloween evolved, the holiday took on traditions and symbolisms from other culture’s Harvest times and All Saints Days. Pumpkins and other vegetables were carved into “Jack-O-Lanterns” to commemorate souls in purgatory, or to scare the evil spirits. The children’s tradition of “Trick Or Treating”, (Going door to door asking for candy) was born out of an old European tradition of begging for food in exchange for prayers on All Souls Day.

All of the Halloween imagery such as Costumes, Monsters, Pumpkins and Candy has always fascinated MF Gallery owners Martina and Frank. Many of the MF Gallery artists share this love for Halloween, and are always happy to create works within the Halloween theme for this annual show. For the past 8 years, The Halloween Art Show has been a much anticipated event at MF Gallery featuring all the best Underground Pop artists from around the world. Witches, ghouls, monsters, Jack-O-Lanterns, candy and skeletons can all be seen hanging on the walls of MF Gallery during this time of year.

This year’s show will be held in MF Gallery Genova, in order to further engrain the Halloween tradition in Italian culture. The show will include Halloween themed pieces by: Dave Brockie, Mark Elliot, Moses Jaen, Matthew Kirscht, Lance Laurie, Enrico Macchiavello, Drew Maillard, Morg, Bianca Panzram, Frank Russo, Martina Secondo Russo, Chad Savage, Joe Simko, Joe Vaux, Heather Watts and Others..

The opening party, on Sunday October 31st, will be a Halloween costume party. Guests who come in Halloween costumes will get free candy and drinks. Admission is Free and open to all ages.
